Assumptions

“The harder you fight to hold on to specific assumptions, the more likely there's gold in letting go of them.” - John Seely Brown

How many times have you been wrong about yourself? Your world? You assume certain things are just GOING to happen and they don’t do they? Prejudging yourself based on false beliefs will only limit you. Do not assume that just because it was true a moment ago that it will always be true.

Affirmation – say: “I will let go of the negative assumptions I have about myself.”

  1. Love this one, Lorin. I have dragged myself down in the past with negative assumptions and fantasies that I find such truth in John Seely Brown's quote. Thank you for sharing!

  3. I am the queen of assumptions. I am always assuming a person feels this way or that way about me(mostly negative), always assuming the worst will happen. It is like an addiction. I am addicted to assuming(and worrying), even though I see the destruction that is a result of it.

  4. Hi Anonymous,
Thanks for sharing such a personal thought. The first question I always ask myself when I am in a negative pattern or I find myself doing things that aren't healthy is: "What benefit am I recieving by still doing this? What payoff do I get? What alternatives are there? Can I try that instead?"

I wish you all the best - feel free to keep me posted. All my best, Lorin
